Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)¶
This page answers common product-level questions. For first-use problems inside the application, see Troubleshooting.
General Questions¶
What is ENP?¶
ENP is a platform for planning, inspecting, and simulating IP, transport, and multi-layer networks. It combines a web interface with a backend simulation engine.
Who is ENP for?¶
ENP is typically used by:
- network planners and architects
- engineering and operations teams
- service providers and enterprise network teams
- consultants or analysts working on network evolution
What types of networks does ENP support?¶
ENP supports:
- IP/MPLS and Segment Routing networks
- optical transport networks such as OTN and DWDM
- multi-layer environments that combine IP and transport views
- multi-vendor environments
What makes ENP different?¶
The most relevant differences for end users are:
- multi-layer analysis in a single environment
- visual and table-based workflows in the same product
- support for both manually created and imported topologies
- simulation, monitoring, and forecasting in one toolset
Usage Questions¶
Do I need to create a design before running simulations?¶
Yes. In normal use, simulations are run on top of a loaded design. The design may be created manually, imported, or discovered from external systems depending on your deployment.
Can ENP ingest external or live data?¶
Yes. Depending on the deployment, ENP can ingest data from controllers, NMS, OSS/BSS platforms, telemetry sources, and other customer-specific systems.
Can ENP perform what-if analysis?¶
Yes. ENP can compare network behavior before and after changes such as:
- failures
- new traffic demands
- topology changes
- policy changes
- capacity upgrades
How does failure analysis work?¶
ENP can evaluate resilience using service-level and multi-layer concepts such as recovery mechanisms, routing changes, and Shared Risk Groups (SRGs). For more detail, see Failure simulation and analysis.
Deployment Questions¶
Does ENP require internet access?¶
No. ENP can be deployed in isolated or air-gapped environments.
Can ENP be deployed on-premises?¶
Yes. ENP can be deployed on-premises, in private cloud environments, or in hybrid models depending on customer requirements.
Support and Training¶
Is training available for new users?¶
Yes. Training can include onboarding sessions, documentation walkthroughs, team-oriented sessions, and best-practice workshops.
What kind of support is available?¶
Support typically includes technical assistance, updates, troubleshooting help, and customer-specific guidance depending on the service agreement.
